May 5, 2022 (Shawnee, Oklahoma) The Salvation Army’s Arkansas and Oklahoma Division has activated Emergency Disaster Services (EDS) personnel to respond to the overnight tornado outbreak in central Oklahoma which caused damage to several areas within Pottawatomie and Seminole Counties.  Additionally, the division is closely watching the threat for more severe weather as well as flash flooding on already saturated ground.

An Incident Management team is in route to help coordinate the disaster response. Rapid Response Units from Shawnee, Oklahoma and Central Oklahoma Area Command are on scene today beginning assessments as well as providing food, hydration, and emotional and spiritual care to first responders as well as residents affected by multiple tornadoes.

Further details will be provided after initial assessments are made on Thursday morning.  The Salvation Army will be working closely with first responders and emergency management at the local and state levels to ascertain what the needs are for emergency response.
