Territory streamlines commissioning schedule and focus

Salvationists in the Central Territory will find this year’s commissioning weekend, June 8-9, to be an inspiring event with a significantly streamlined schedule. Programs will focus on the “Defenders of Justice” session of cadets, celebrating God’s faithfulness to call and equip people for ministry and expressions of living in His Spirit by Salvationists throughout the territory.

In fact, the weekend’s theme, chosen by the new territorial commander, will be the Fruit of the Spirit, based on Galatians 5:22-23 (NLT), “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. There is no law against these things!”

“We are excited to welcome home Commissioner Evie Diaz, and this will be an opportunity for us to hear her heart as she leads our territory,” said Lt. Colonel Collette Webster, assistant territorial program secretary.

Saturday afternoon will offer opportunities for Salvationists to show their faith by engaging in service projects throughout Milwaukee. Delegates should come prepared to work, opening their hearts and offering their hands to help those in need.

Saturday night’s uplifting program will encourage Salvationists further in their faith and service as we look together at the Fruit of the Spirit and receive a challenge from the territorial commander.

The weekend will conclude with a Sunday morning worship service where the “Defenders of Justice” session will be ordained as ministers and commissioned as officers.

Look for more details every month. Online registration will be open by the end of January, and onsite registration will take place on Saturday morning, June 8.

Begin now to ask yourself, “What kind of fruit am I bearing?” as you prepare your heart and mind to hear from God.

If unable to attend, Salvationists are encouraged to watch a livestream of the Saturday evening and Sunday morning meetings together as corps groups.

In 2025 the territory will gather for a Congress with General Lyndon Buckingham and Commissioner Bronwyn Buckingham.
