Tropical Storm Elsa: The Salvation Army stands ready to respond

The Salvation Army Emergency Response teams along the west coast of Florida stand ready to respond as Tropical Storm Elsa move northward along Florida’s west coast.

Local teams are prepared to provide assistance to those affected by the storm, which could include potential local flooding and possible storm surge.

Salvation Army offices in Key West and Naples have closed for the day in order for employees to remain safe during the storm.

Current forecasts predict that landfall will come early Wednesday morning in the Big Bend area of Florida.

“These types of storms can be unpredictable,” says Steven Hartsook, Emergency Disaster Services Director for The Salvation Army Florida Division. “We never know what the impact might be, but we are ready to respond if needed.”
