The Salvation Army Responds After Deadly Tornado

April 24, 2020 – Oklahoma City, OK – Severe storms hit Southeastern Oklahoma on Wednesday evening, including a deadly tornado in the town of Madill, Oklahoma.  At least ten tornadoes were reported across the region.  Immediately following the storms, The Salvation Army of Ardmore was contacted by Marshall County Emergency Management requesting assistance.

On Wednesday evening, The Salvation Army deployed the catering truck to Madill to provide food, hydration and emotional and spiritual care to first responders and those affected by the tornado. Captain Alan Grimes, Ardmore Corps Officer, reports, “It is an honor to serve this community.  The storms created a lot of damage and we will provide as much comfort as we can to those affected.”

At the conclusion of meal service on Thursday, a total of 290 meals, 115 drinks, and 150 snacks were served.

Please continue to pray for all of those affected by the storms today, especially those who lost loved ones.   The Salvation Army is working closely with emergency management officials at the local and state levels to ascertain what further needs may arise in the aftermath of the storms.
