Good Soil Initiative program summary

Launched in 2012, the Good Soil Initiative (GSI) is a three-year missions internship that places qualified individuals in underserved communities and neighborhoods of the Midwest. Called Youth Development Coordinators, GSI leaders receive training and guidance from the Territorial Youth Department in order to implement a holistic approach to youth ministry that focuses on healthy growth. Youth workers also are equipped to engage their communities—neighborhood organizations, parents, teachers, children’s clubs, etc.—with the Gospel, as well as network with others and work to cultivate a great environment for young people to thrive.

Program applicants should expect to work for, serve with and worship at a Salvation Army Corps. They should display spiritual depth, emotional consistency, and Christ-like character that is fully congruous with their Christian faith.
