Since launching the Orange Sunday school curriculum last fall on Rally Day, the Madison, Ind., Corps, led by Lts. Vinal and Brenna Lee, has implemented Orange as an approach to all they do and have found it has breathed new life into their corps.

They are harnessing the Orange strategy of blending two critical influences, the light of the Church (yellow) and the heart of the family (red), to more effectively promote spiritual growth in their corps.

“In his book, Think Orange: Imagine the Impact when Church and Family Collide, Reggie Joiner asked, ‘What would happen if…both churches and families started believing in the potential of combining their influences to accomplish the same mission?’” said Lt. Brenna. “This idea has helped us focus on the whole family, even if only one member attends, by providing cohesive lessons that build over the week.”

They now weave the Orange strategy through every program and service by asking, “How are we as the Church encouraging, engaging and equipping the heart of the family throughout the whole week?”

“Rethink Orange has been exactly what our corps has needed,” said the lieutenant. “Our church family is so hungry for God’s Word they dig into it all throughout the week as they process the prior week’s small group discussion and prepare for the next.”

The corps also utilizes Orange resources for their character-building Bible time each week and hosted “AMPED: Live Fully Alive,” vacation Bible school where children learned Jesus came into the world so they may have life to the fullest.

Orange small groups have helped the corps to be more intentional with use of its space. A new teen room and a remodeled clubhouse have been created for the school-age children, and a conference room has been redesigned for adults.

Lt. Brenna concluded, “It’s so exciting to see the church and families working together to live loving God and loving others.”
