The Salvation Army in Malaysia

The work of The Salvation Army spread to Malaysia three years after its 1935 launch in Singapore. Today as part of the Army’s Singapore, Malaysia and Myanmar Territory, the work in the country is split between East and West Malaysia with each offering corps community centers and services, children’s homes, kindergartens, learning centers and children’s day care centers. West Malaysia additionally offers a center for special-needs children, a home for older adults and a social services center. More than 70 Malaysian young people attended a youth camp where they studied the life of Peter.

The territory is currently working under a three-year strategic mission plan to set the direction for its priorities: making disciples, pursuing holiness, engaging in mission and promoting justice. The territory has almost 150 officers, nearly 3,000 soldiers, 58 corps, 17 outposts, almost 800 employees and 36 institutions.
