Tips on community gardening

Salvation Army corps and institutions with spare land might consider making the space available (and productive!) as a community garden.

The American Community Gardening Association (communitygardening.org) offers services, programs and even resources for grants to help community gardens succeed.

The association advocates community gardening for improving people’s quality of life and providing a catalyst for neighborhood development by stimulating social interaction, encouraging self-reliance, beautifying neighborhoods, producing nutritious food, conserving resources and creating opportunities for recreation, exercise, therapy and education.
