Port Charlotte – The Salvation Army is partnering with Walmart and the Walmart Foundation for Hurricane Ian recovery efforts. Toward this end, Walmart has offered space in their parking lots throughout the affected areas to allow Salvation Army canteens to set up and provide meal service.
“We are grateful to the Salvation Army teams who quickly mobilized to provide much needed resources and services for the communities impacted by Hurricane Ian and Hurricane Fiona,” said Brooks Nelson, senior manager, disaster response and preparedness, Walmart.org “We are proud to work side-by-side to serve the communities impacted.”
The Salvation Army was on the ground delivering meals and hydration to areas affected by Hurricane Ian within hours of the storm passing. With an aim toward serving and making local communities stronger, Walmart, the Walmart Foundation, and The Salvation Army have moved quickly to provide relief after Ian.
In the past three weeks the Walmart Foundation has committed $300,000 in support to The Salvation Army. By providing $150,000 in support for survivors of Hurricane Fiona and $150,000 in support of immediate feeding and hydration needs to benefit the survivors of Hurricane Ian in southwestern Florida.
