- If you’re not a corps officer, talk to them about starting the Embrace program for women. Set an appointment and be prepared to discuss what Embrace is, who could lead it and what it could do for your corps and community. End the meeting by determining the next step.
- Visit www.uscwomensministries.com/embrace to sign up a registered leader. Once done, the leader will receive Embrace resources which include a poster, bulletin insert, images and a how-to guide.
- Get the word out. Plan a promotional event (how-to guide can help with this part), such as a brunch, coffee or tea time. Invite all women from the corps and any others who are connected and might show an interest. It’s a core value of Embrace to be inclusive and help women find a place to belong, so be sure to invite everyone.
- Use the promotional event to help demo the program. Give out numbers at the door between 1 and 5 (or smaller or larger depending on the turnout) to create random small groups of women. Ask the women with the same number to sit together and give out questions to each group for a discussion time. Ask for feedback from each group and apply anything helpful to your corps’ program.
- Have a sign-up sheet ready for those interested in joining Embrace at the end of your promotional event. Also ask for email addresses to send a follow-up informational note and survey for those interested in joining.
- If you have lots of interest expressed (i.e. over 20 women), consider forming more than one group. You’ll need to find an additional leader. First ask for volunteers, but if no one steps forward, I’d encourage you to ask someone who you believe would do a good job if they’re willing.
