Using your talents for World Services/Self-Denial

It can be tempting to answer the call to contribute to World Services/Self-Denial with an emphatic, “But I don’t have anything to give!” True, giving up so others can receive is difficult stuff—especially when you have burdens of your own weighing you down. But it’s not just about donating money.

Each person in the Body of Christ has been gifted by God in some way. Paul reminds believers that every function of the body matters. In other words, every person in the Body of Christ has a purpose—and something to give.

If you think you don’t have anything of value to contribute, here are some ideas:

  • Good with kids? Babysit
  • Bake delicious brownies? Organize a bake sale
  • Knit or crochet? Exchange hats and scarves for a donation
  • Crafty? Create items to sell
  • Good at a certain subject? Tutor a child
  • Have the gift of gab? Spread awareness and collect donations
  • Musically talented? Play or sing at a kettle designated for world missions
  • Draw or paint? Set up a station and create portraits or caricatures for a donation
  • Social media pro? Spread awareness online and direct your contacts to where they can donate
  • Animal lover? Pet sit or dog walk
  • Athletic? Organize a 5k walk/run
  • Handy? Do odd jobs or yard work for a donation
  • Environmentally conscious? Collect cans

Then, simply donate any proceeds to World Services/Self-Denial. There are many ways to contribute to World Services/Self-Denial. Don’t count yourself out!
